The remote key FOB does not function well or not at all once the temperature drops below 40 degrees. It also looses sync after a short period of time, so basically the range is OK when I re-sync but after a short period of time the sync is lost.
Also during the winter time the remote tire pressure works but take awhile to get a measurement but this could just be that they are getting old.
Based on what I have read so far I have done the following things so far.
1. New Battery (Main battery)
2. New Key Fob and new battery in old key fob.
3. No error codes on the DIC/computer.
Like the message threat talks about both fobs work for a short period of time after re-sync.
But probably not a soldering issue, did that fix many years ago on the original key fob. The new key fob has a different PC board layout from the original. So I have both old and new key fobs that fail in a similar manner.
doesn't the key fob and the tpms use the same module? I wish I had access to my Mitchell right now, thinking out loud... if so, you may have a module dropping out?
Yes. they use same module.
IF I hadn't already replaced all my 2000 TPMS- expensive...
I would have done the Cultrag 2001+ swap
You get 4 tpms, remotes, and module to
convert the 2000 & down to the newer 2001 & Up models.
The TPMS are a lot cheaper
I saw this AFTER I had already done new tires and all new TPMS and a remote...
I saw the Cultrag 2001+ swap mentioned in other threads. It might be the best solution as it will work. Won't waste any more money, as in old style key fobs. Plus I need new tires so replacing the tire pressure sensors makes sense. OK just justifying the purchase.
May just pull apart the receiver module as I don't have much to loose.
