Default Clutch problems?

Maybe someone out there can tell me if there is anything wrong or not with my clutch! I hope not!

Bunch of us went to a photo shoot at a nearby raceway and after the photos the owner of the track let us loose. Well, when I went to let out the clutch with the traction control off at around 2500 rpms the car didn't really go anywhere barely spun the tires and the clutch pedal was just flopping back and forth  Bad smell!
I admit I was pretty hard on the car and the clutch had an awful smell to it.
Drove it around town and the clutch feels fine. But, when you go to get on it at times it just feels like the clutch is not fully engaging.

What do you think?

Just out for a little cruise and the clutch feels normal! But, I didn't try anything foolish!

U smoked the clutch. Try to keep the rpms down a touch off the line. Cross fingers. You'll know if it's dead soon.

A lot depends on the history of your clutch.

But if you accidently slipped it too much and over-heated the rotating disc, you may have "glazed" the clutch. It usually returns to normal once it cools down.

If you tried to spin them dry while you were in the real sticky area near the line, you may have spun the clutch disc rather than the tires. Bad smell. Smoke from the engine bay rather than the rear wheel wells.

At 6500 miles, I did that once on my 02. I let it cool for an hour. Then ran a 1.74 60'. So my clutch was fine once it cooled. I suspect yours is too...assuming this is not a regular occurrence.

How big of a job to repair the clutch if its toast?

Back from going to dinner - clutch felt normal but has a smell to it!

A glazed clutch, even after it cools, can stink up the engine bay for a couple days. The smell won't hurt anything. If the clutch is behaving normally now, no harm was done. You will know it if it is slipping.

You shouldn't need it...but a complete stock clutch repacement at a dealer with parts and labor would cost in the neighborhood of $900.
