Broken alarm?
When I reconnect ten minutes later the first thing I hear is the alarm set then my headlights pop up!
WTH?
Any ideas? I thought I was good on this
I plan to hook the battery back up but I'll do it with the door open so it can't arm itself at least until I get it positioned better in the garage.
Thanks
Did this just start?
Did you do anything to the car recently, just before this started?
Thinking there's an aftermarket alarm that's setting it off... possible?
This is a replay of what happened just before the battery died.
Tomorrow I plan to reconnect the battery with the door open to prevent the alarm resetting and try to turn the alarm off.
My local Chevy dealer doesn't want to mess with it due to the age of the car.
Am I on the right track to leave a door open when I reconnect the battery so the alarm doesn't automatically reset itself? This was the most frustrating parts of yesterday.
There have been no issues with this car until just before Thanksgiving and I failed to put it back on the batt minder.
I'm on the closing end time wise of getting my aunt qualified for Medicade funded nursing home care. They lose paperwork, can't find paperwork, can't read paperwork and this is only the "back office" of the nursing home! There are some gems in this field also though. My wife works with the elder population and loves it. I will migrate there job wise after I get my aunt situated since no one reads books anymore.
I will post up how this goes later today and will be checking the site so feel free to drop any ideas here.
I want to love my car but dadgummitt, right now it feels like the biggest POS I've ever owned and I owned a Pinto with an autobox(first car)and I beat on that regularly!
Thanks corvetteforum.

I disconnected what I think is the power to the radio which runs all the time. In fact, this is why I needed a top & side post battery, assuming the red covered wire IS radio power. I'll know in less than five minutes.
Everything else is not an issue unless you count the TPMS monitors going off.
And away I go.
Car ad runs like usual so love is back in my garage!
8VETTE7 I will try and get an electric meter over the weekend and post up then.
Thanks all.
I have an aftermarket system so I don't know about the Bose system amp but I do have a big speaker in the back deck which I'm sure uses the red sleeved wire.
My neg battery cable had some corrosion so I scrubbed that.
I'm becoming less afraid of messing with my car now!

I removed the battery to clean the neg cable and when installing it my lights popped up. Not a big issue except I also need get the brass gears for the lights. It makes that horrible grinding sound when they go down!
