I just changed my manual transmission oil on a 2001. After I was done I revisited the froggy video. Froggy says to put the oil in the oil temperature sender hole. I used the hole that say fill on the drivers side. My temperature sender is mounted on the passenger side and at a higher elevation. Using the fill hole I got 3 1/2 quarts in. Which is correct? If I use the sender hole it will definitely take more oil.
Haven't seen Froggy's vid but if you remove both plugs and then fill from the temp sensor hole as he suggests you won't overfill as it would start to pour out of the fill hole before the temp sensor hole and you would be done. I guess filling from the temp sensor hole might be a bit easier than the fill hole since it can be messy using only the fill hole.
Now, if you left the fill plug in and filled the tranny at the temp sensor hole until it poured out of the temp sensor hole then you would have overfilled. I trust the engineers who labeled that fill port to know how much the tranny needs.
