I am getting a spare set of used front and rear control arms to replace the original ones. While I send the control arms to a machine shop to have the VBP bushings kits installed, should I tell them to install grease fittings on each of the control arm so I could grease the bushings later myself? Any pros and cons?
Personally, I think it would be a good idea, as long as they have them located properly, as in an orientation that allows you to access them with a grease gun.....
While your at it you might as well have new ball joints pressed in as well.
I purchased a full set of control arms and knuckles and installed bushings and ball joints. One less thing to worry about !
Anybody knows the exact locations to install the grease fittings?
I don't know about an EXACT location, but I'd say "in the middle" fore and aft, and pointing up and somewhat outward, so you can get the grease gun on them.
^That is not my picture but the only one I could find for you.
I do my own work and unfortunately don't take enough pictures.
Labor cost vary depending on the area.
A well seasoned shop that specializes in late model Vettes can install them pretty quick (less than 4-6 hrs) with fees of $75-$150/ hour.
No matter how good the shop is, if they don't have Vette experience they will be a little lost. It will take longer, cost more and they may not get it right.
I would rather go outside my area and rent a car to find a shop that does this kind of thing all the time.
