When I start my 98 in the morning it sounds like I have a bird chirping under the hood. It will go away after it is warmed up. I believe it is the tensior, any ideas? :chevy

Try some "STP Belt dressing" on the serpentine thingy... worked for me.
Its the tensioner pulley. Try a Squirt of WD40 inbetween the pulley and the sheild front and back. There is also a TSB on it and they have a replacement but not a warrenty deal.
I also had the same problem - refer to TSB #99-06-01-007: Accessory Drive Squeak (Replace Idler Pulley).
It instructs the dealer to replace the idler pulley assembly on 1997 - 1999 Corvettes (and 1998-1999 Camaro & Firebird) with the LS1 engine. The new part, #12564401 (idler pulley assembly) has a thicker dust shield to prevent crushing of it. The bulletin states the original was crushed upon assembly, causing it to contact the bearing race and thus the squeak.
Ignore the advice on spraying various chemicals on the pulleys and belts. Follow the TSB instructions. The bulletin allows 0.3 hours for the dealer to replace. I had the pulley replaced per the bulletin and it eliminated the squeak.
The belt was put on in july. Should not need that. :chevy
Mine did it when still a BRAND NEW CAR so I should not have needed it either - but it WORKED! - and it's a criminally CHEAP solution - if it works for you - better than a bunch of replacement parts surely?
And if it doesn't work, darn it you have wasted $2.
Its the belt tensioner pulley. Replace it now. I heard the brid noise and a week late the tensioner pulley went the belt came off and the car over heated. This all happend on a Sat. about 100 miles from my house. It was a big pain in the butt.
