Default Battery

Is the battery in a C5 Corvette under the hood?

Where is the hood release?

You are kidding right? If not, the hood release is by the drivers side knee and the battery is under the hood.

Hood release is drivers side, under the dash, on the kick panel.
Battery is passenger side, right next to the fuse box.
The hood opens from the rear...

Some owners have installed their batteries in the rear of the car. Most likely as stated above, it will be under the hood. There are two hood latches, one on each side of the hood located closer to the windshield than the headlights.

try to remember to grasp and pull open from the middle of the hood , to avoid it taking a sidewise set from flexing in one direction over many openings, if you lift from one side only.

And don't set your packages on the trunk lid while looking for your keys, same deal , the support structure is intentionally light weight and not designed for abuse. Plus, it identifies you as a , well, someone who is ok with warped panel fit .

Get yourself an "owners manual" and read it. Either or both, get it in print form or get it digital but get one and read it.

The suggestion to get an owner's manual and become familiar with it is a good one. Best of luck with your car and welcome to the forum.

For future reference nearly every car's hood release is on the driver's side under the dash.
