Recently I have been hearing a weird noise from underneath my car and I think it may have something to do with my torque tube. When ever I take off, whether normal or hard, its sounds like metal underneath claps against each other a couple times and there's also a rattling sound (the rattling sound has been there since the beginning and everything I read about it everyone says to just take off at a higher rpm). When I come to stop it sounds like marbles are rolling around underneath my car. The harder I stop the more obvious the marble rolling sound is. I have tried to record the sound but my phone and camera cannot pick up the sound very well.
I'm pretty new to working on cars but when I looked underneath to check out the torque tube, where the tube and transmission join there is black grease (picture below). Is this normal? What could be causing the marble rolling sound?
I just got my exhaust installed and I think the metal clapping sound may be due to the fact that a liquid gasket was used so I will replace that with an actual gasket and hopefully that will remove that noise.
