So I am a new C5 owner (3 weeks now). Could not be more pleased with the one owner car I found. So last weekend while cleaning I noticed how dirty the clutch fluid was. So i performed the "Ranger Method". After 7 or 8 times the resavoir was relative clean with just a trace of dirty fluid coming in to the newly replaced fluid.
So today I was checking fluids and my so called cleaned fluid is very dirty again. Obviously I did not perform enough repititions . How many does it take to get the fluid clean and stay relatively clean.side note ( 20,000 miles on existing clutch , no hard driving)
I have done mine twice and the fluid has stayed clean, 50,000 when I got the cat now 72,000 !! I also cleaned out the bellhousing when I did my header install, plus opened up the vent holes and drilled holes in my plastic covers (starter and by the oil filter)

Any help is much appreciated
Thanks,
I just did mine a few weeks ago and have the same thing, I think you have to drive it and get it pretty warm to get the fluid mixing enough other than just doing it repeatedly cold. I changed mine 3 times with about 50=60 pedal pumps between draining and didn't see a damn bit of difference doing it cold either. Mine is now dirtier too after driving and will be changing again and again only after getting it warm first though till it cleans up pretty good.
There's a lot more fluid down there instead of what's just sitting on top and all that pumping when cold just lifts the stuff up and down a little without mixing it much. Really I don't think this method really does that much to begin with to be honest. I wish I had the bleeder hose that they say you have to pull everything apart to install though.

Using the "Ranger Method" is not a very efficient way to "clean" your clutch fluid. If you want to do it the correct way and get all the dirty clutch fluid out you should install a remote clutch bleeder. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...h-bleeder.html
I had to do mine about once a week for a couple months. When I noticed it getting a little darker, I just pulled the old stuff out and put fresh in each week. Actuating the clutch during normal operation helped cycle the fluid and by pulling the slightly dirty fluid out weekly it helped clean the system a bit.
