Default Intake manifold

Been looking into a fast 92/90 combo and came across the dorman ls2 intake. Supposed to be like their ls6 intake but with a 90mm opening. Anybody have expirience with this?? Can't really beat the price! Part number 615-901

Make sure it's a 4-bolt TB flange.

The 615-900 is the LS6 Intake ( 2001 later LS1/Ls6)
I am going to use this one on my 2000 as the real LS6 -2001 & On
Intakes are getting hard to find.
I've read up on it and if I do a little cleanup on it, it should be close to LS6 intake.
So, better than my LS1 !

Unless you're using an LS2/etc throttle body I'd stick with LS6

I was planning on using an ls2 tb. The more I read about it looks like fast 78 runners with 90mm opening. Probably could do a little porting too. Just hard to make a decision. I can get the manifold and ls2 tb for 675.

You might also need intake gaskets, tune, etc. Going to a larger TB only slows down the air going into the Intake. Unless you are making north of 450 FWHP, it is of little value. The 2001+ intakes over 750 cfm and is good for the standard and Z06 engines. On a bone stock 2000 with just Veraram you would gain almost nothing by making a change.

Engines can only run at their optimal efficiency if they have very precise data on the amount of air flowing into them. Although most people think of air flow into an engine as fairly continuous, it really is not. The opening and closing of valves and reciprocating nature of internal combustion engines means the air flow is really a series of pulses which make measuring the exact flow challenging.

There's a real good thread on this on LS1Tech. I'm building a stroker and this sure looks like a cost effective alternative to anyone not looking for every last horsepower.

Does an intake upgrade like this require a tune?

I was wondering the same thing. LS2 throttle body will bolt to it. The bottom half looks just like the FAST intake. Most important, a hell of a lot cheaper than the FAST setup.

I ordered it, came in the mail yesterday along with my LS2 throttle body. Going to clean up the runners and throttle body with the dremel. I won't know more til I hit the dyno but I'll keep you informed.

Awesome! Yes, please let us know how it looks and how the install goes. If everything goes ok I think I am going to pull the trigger on one as well.

I was going to go this route myself, but why are LS2 silver blade throttle bodies so expensive? Used ones seem to sell for $250...new are well over $300 whereas the gold blade TB's (that won't work with our old cars) are $150 new.

For $650, I highly doubt you'll get the bang for the buck, but I'm curious to hear how it goes.

I am looking into going with a Dorman intake as well, but had some questions.

The previous owner of my '99 vert had installed an LS6 throttle body, which looks like it is ported to 90mm (by my crude measurement with a ruler). Currently bolted to the stock LS1 manifold though, so I can't imagine there are any gains other than throttle sensitivity.

My question: given my TB is 90mm, is there any advantage to going with the Dorman LS2 manifold (90mm opening) vs. the Dorman LS6 manifold (73mm opening)?

If I went with the LS2 option, I would have to get an adapter plate that would allow me to mount the 3-bolt throttle body...but I would get the full 90mm opening. What do you guys think? Are there even any high-quality adapter plates out there with 90mm or greater openings?
