just finished my oil consumption test and they are going to replace the rings. They said they have to drop the motor so I am going to have them instal a new cam and pulley. I want a real lumpy idle but I want the car to be streetable. What cam should I go with? Anyone running any specials right now on cam, springs, pushrods ect ect I will probably be ordering some long tubes also. Thanks, Kaley
I just ordered the G5 cam from LGM and it's supposed to be lumpy. I like the sound of a split duration cam (G5) better than the single duration cams (T1, C1, etc.). The G5 makes great power too! :yesnod:
I would love to do the head and cam swap but I cannot afford it right now. Any other ideas? What kind of gains would I expect from the MTI C2 cam? Thanks, Kaley

"This cam has higher valve lift, .570" intake and exhaust, than production camshafts. The duration at .050" lift is 239 degrees for intake and 251 degrees for exhaust. The lobe centers are at 106 degrees. This cam requires 2002 LS6 valves and valve springs. It has a broader torque range and higher horsepower range than the ASA racing camshaft."
But, you would have to change the heads as well. I drove a 2002 Z06 with this cam (heads, exhaust, etc) and it was frickin bad butt! For me, I would be willing to drive it every day.
How were the cruise and idle characteristics on that car TXNC5? I drove a ASA cam car and it jerked AKA rode the cam under 2200RPM so you couldn't cruise in 6th under 90 or so. Parking lots and traffic were hard on the clutch as you had to rev and slip it. It ran to 7000 to pull the power out of the cam. The A/C gave it fits at idle which was bumped to 1200rpm. The LS1 fastory hot cam kit sounds like a cam should with good drivability. Any cam over 220 with a LSA @112 with have lope.
If I could afford some heads w/ my cam I would. So I have to start off small and then eventually buy some heads, I think I am going to go w/ MTI C2 cam. Does anyone know if this cam will work w/ stock heads? Thanks, Kaley

Hey TXNC5 where did you find the info on this cam??Out of a catalogue or online? Thanks!!!
If you want a really lumpy cam, I would not go with anything under a 228/228 on a 112 LSA. That is going to sound pretty mean, but you are going to need a good tune in order for it to be street friendly. :)
We have a cam package that includes, 918 springs, 772 retainers, chromolly stock length pushrods, and cam. The package goes for $779.95.
Bear in mind this result had to be as a result of tuning as well; although it is not mentioned. Also, if emisions are a concern, I'd for get about any cam with less than a 114 LSA.
I am not for sure if I can post this, but just go to somewhere like sdpc2000.com and search for the part number listed above.
As far as a daily driver, that is far too subjective. Right now in my life (30 something) I don't care about noise or a high idle. In fact, I want my car to shake a little at the stop light and for people in the car next to me to say, "Damn!". When I take off even moderately, I want them to say, "Gawd Damn!". When I stomp on it, I want them to be afraid, very afraid.
I read a lot on this forum and others, but rarely post because I don't feel I have enough technical knowledge. However, I could care less about having an idle of say 1100rpm's. Does it make for a lot more clutch work and driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic suck? Yes.
I will say before my current round of mods(can't wait), I had 25k miles on my 2001 coupe and most of those with H/C, intake, TPIS, & PRT's with a best time of 11.99 on ET Streets. Don't get me wrong, I am not an @ss driving my car, but you won't see me posting in the detail section either.
If I had the money, I would have the twin turbo in one car and the big cam in another. I can't afford the TT (not yet anyway), so I'll settle for good lope.
