I see in the Mall store that Superchips has their Micro Tuner for 2001-2002 LS1 & LS6 unit for sale. Why have I not heard news about this item? How does it line up against the Predator which seems to be genereating lots of "press".
These items seem very simular - is there a problem with Superchips?
I thought I read somewhere that the same guys who were at Superchips are now at Diablo - What happened? Why do we think that Diablo will be any different?

Big difference in the two products. Superchips which I have been using is simply a boxed plug and play program. PREDATOR is a boxed program that the user can MODIFY at will! Predator also has diagnostic capability which is useful in tuning your car. Predator is a best of both worlds product. Best of tune because you can simply plug in a real good base program from the box. Best of tune again as some of us would like to enhance our program and don't have the know how to use the LS edit. So you could say this is a cross between the box programs and the Ls edit program. Really the best of both worlds. :D

My primary objective is shifting and reduction of the times the "slip code - 8709 I think" happens with my TC and Gears.
The engine tunning is secondary. I do think a very important feature to have would be the ability to move the slip code trigger point up and down some. Not totally disable it, just dial in some room for the TC to do it's thing and still wary if something goes really wrong. Did I not read that this is "custom programming stuff".
I think that Superchips has some diagnostic capability as well.
At a lower price point the Superchips product still has a market. Maybe not - the Diablo guys seem intent on driving the "competition" away.
As for the diagnostics I do not believe the Superchips for GM's has this ability, but it may. I do know, though, that it will NOT display the code definition directly on your screen (you have to look it up in a book), whereas the Predator will. The Predator's diagnostics are also much more advanced, and it also reads real time data (the Superchips does not).
The Predator is also fully updateable via the web (the Superchips is not) and will allow for custom programming w/out having to send your unit back in (like on the Superchips). The screen size is bigger on the Predator, easier to understand, and it also will program your vehicle faster.
The Predator also lets the end-user adjust their fuel trims and their timing, whereas none of the other handhelds do. It also allows you to adjust shift adaption (quickness), something the others don't have, plus it fixes the torque management issues.
It's a much more complete handheld unit than anything out there, and it will always be.
