I bought my 2002 Z06 about 6 months ago and installed a LCM5 as preventative maintenance shortly after. Everything was fine for about 5 months. Last Saturday I parked it in the garage with the dome lights on and killed the battery. After jump starting the car I got the Service Column Lock error. I drove it for a few hours then put it in the garage and put the battery charger on it just in case. I pulled fuse 25 & 29 let it sit for half an hour and started the car up. No Column Lock error. I didn't drive it anywhere. The battery is an almost new Optima. Now when I went back out and started it the error is back. Any guess on what's going on? Did my LCM5 die?
I had the same thing happen. I have been installing a new radio in the car. As a result, I have installed and pulled the battery several times. Now I also am seeing the Service Column lock. I also have installed the LMC5 device as you did. I have not driven the car since the Column lock message. Should I now drive the car?
They are in Calif so take that into consideration if you call............ They are often around on weekends so don't let that hinder you in contacting them.

I have not tried pulling fuses 25 and 29. Guess I will try it and see of that works.
Either of you do the brown wire mod? My money is you need to do that too.
Did the install last year, cannot recall if I did the brown wire mod. I just removed fuses 25 & 29. will reinstall the fuses and see what gives. Brown wire mod... Humm... Likely not. I lift an email with Customer Support and will call tomorrow.
Pulled fuses 25 & 29. Left the fuses un-connected for about 30min. Reinstalled the fuses and all is well. No more Column Lock error. Will connect with tech support for more information.
Sounds like the BCM was very confused from the battery disconnects/connects and pulling the fuses caused it to "reboot" so to speak. Would like to hear what Compliance (Richard) has to say on this...... LMC5 can't fix the BCM when it gets hosed up...............
Talked with Richard this afternoon. As expected, it was the low battery voltage that caused the error. I pulled the fuses. Richard said that I could have simply pulled the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to reset the BMC. All is well and I have driven the car with no issue at all.

It's 5 seconds to pull the passenger kick panel and see if the brown wire on the LMC5 is cut or not. If it's not cut then you haven't done it yet.
I should pull the instructions on the brown wire mod. But, is there no jumpering required for the mod?
Nope. The mod involves replacing another wire just like the first two wires and then cutting a brown wire on the LMC5. If the brown wire is intact on the unit then the mod isn't complete.
