Default Another Tire question...

I have the 2002 Z06 wheels on my '98. I'm interested in the Bridgestone Pontenza S02 Pole Position, however, it does not come in the correct size for the front (265/40).

Tirerack has 255/40ZR 17.

My question:

Would this size be appropriate for the fronts on my 'vette? Any reason not to get these tires at that size? Anything "special" to be done to rim to get tires to mount properly?

I currently have the S03 on the front, however, I prefer the S02 and don't like having them mixed on my 'vette.

Thanks!

Hi SvenOdin,
maybe I can help you. I was looking at the sizes of Yokohama tires and they don't have 265/40 R17, but if you look at the 255/40 , it accept from 8.5" to 10" rims; the 275/40 accept from 9.5" to 11" rims. Now I don't know the size of Z06's rims but probably you can put 255 or even 275 tires without any problem.

That's what I was thinking too ItalianC5. The '02 Z06 rim is 17x9.5, so I figure the 255/40 would be ok. Just not mechanically inclined, and just want reassurance

Eric (Magnetic1),

The shocks have worked out great! :D
Thanks for the smooth transaction
Still waiting for my sway bar kit from Xtreme though :cry

Once all that's out of the way I'll be ready to get the gears, TC, transgo, and FLP headers. :D :D

Actually.. you could go up to 315 up front. My tire guy had given me that option for Hoosiers, but I opted not to ;)

Sorry magnetic1,
I also would like to improve my wheels. Do you know what's the biggest widths and tires, front and rear, with 19" front and 20" rear? I need to be sure before import a very beautiful but very expansive set of HRE 547 R in Italy.
Thank you!

Sven, I have had the S02's in 255/40/17 on th front, and 295/35/18 on the rear for app. 1 year & love them. The rears are Ferrari F50 size, and the fronts are a Porsche size. Only difference is in the pattern near the letters on the sidewall. Slight appearance only. They match up great , tread is identical, and they fit on stock C5 rims just fine. Best of all, they are the best dry/wet tires I have ever run.! (they just wear pretty fast.)
