If you can lift your car 5 inches off the ground you can replace the sway bars yourself... I don't think the rears even require the car to be lifted. Also, replacing the sway bars with C6Z51 made my 01 steering feel more precise.

I believe The rear sway has to come down for the axle back upgrade, so I figured I’ll have my guy I’m using to do it do them both. But good to know.

I just swapped out the base FE1 suspension with plastic end links in my 99 last week. I installed C6Z06 shocks, C6Z51 sway bars, and Moog end links. No more floaty Cadillac turns.
John, check your sway bar end links. some of the C5's came with plastic ones and if you have them, I'd be surprised if one or more aren't broken with that mileage.
Also do you have the Magnetic Selective Ride option? if you do, that will impact your shock decision.
Good luck... GUSTO
I believe the last plastic end links were '00 and '01 forward they were aluminum it is still a good idea to verify the boot in the joint isn't torn.
C6 Z06 shocks are a great upgrade.
C6 Z51 (not Z06) sway bars are another popular mod if you want better handling.
