Normally the front rims are 1 or more inches narrower and use narrower tires....it wouldn't be a good idea to put the front narrower rims/tires in the back. I suppose you could run 18"x9.5"'s front and rear with 285/30/18 tires. I've never seen it done though.....

I have 18" all around. You're not going to find anyone with the SAME wheels front to back as the fronts are always narrower. Same with the tires. The PCM expects smaller tires up front. If they are not, you'll throw all kinds of codes and likely get 'reduced engine power'.

Huh? The PCM doesn't know what size tire you have on the front! You can put 275/35/18's at all 4 corners of this car without issue.

It knows the stagger. If the speed of the rotation isn't the right ratio from stock, it will think that one of the tires has lost traction.

You should try to maintain around a 1" total diameter difference between front and rear, otherwise you could throw off AH, etc. The PCM is set for stock wheels/tires, which are about 1" different in total diameter front to back. So it doesn't matter what size wheel/tire you go with, as long as you maintain that difference (& obviously speedometer calibration is going to be effected if you significantly change overall rear diameter).

By the way, I've got 18's all around...

I got 18s all around. Check out sig and my website for more pics…
BTW: It’s true that you have to maintain a certain front to rear height ratio or your AH/TC won’t like it :nono:
I got BFG G-Force KD 265/35/18 fronts / 295/35/18 rears…

Wow, thanks all...great responses! Guess it's a can of worms again on trying to upsize :cry So, it sounds like I need to pay close attention to tire diameter regardless of wheel width to pull this off. Factor in the non-standard size availability from most brands and it becomes a nightmare. I've already missed Nate's GP on Z06 chromies so I have lots of time for research now

Zack, where's Okemos???? :blueangel:

the butt end of the vette is fat, so u need a set of 19, IMO....

especially when lowered, the body of the car overpowers the tiny 18's in the rear....

all the ricers are doing their cars up with 18's like it is going out of style....

if u got the money, 20" rear, 19" front....

case and point, take a look at SW white FRC with the HREs
(can anyone host the pics for me?)

Here is a pic of 18's front and back with the same exact tire front and rear. Never threw a code and TC/AH worked perfect...guess I am lucky.

Nitro, nice car...

I run 275/35/18s on the front (almost equal to stock front 17 inch tire diameter) and 295/35/18s on the back. There is only a .5 inch difference in the diameters of the front vs back tires, but I have never experienced any problems with the T/C, but I don't have AH.

4DCYKEY...is yours an earlier C5? Mines a 97. Maybe the earlier PCMs aren't smart enough to pick up on the diameter issue...just a thought. This is really getting confusing. Best thing to do is simply copy someone else's setup IMHO.
