My question is, do I need the air tubes for the car to run without any issue besides the check engine light?
The reason I'm asking is because the driver side air tube broke off of my stainless works header leaving a gaping hole.
I had a buddy try welding it while it is still in the car, but the header tube is so thin, it burned through. I'm not sure if I want to replace the headers or pull it and get the bung welded back in. In the interim, I'm thinking about just covering the hole with JB weld.
My question is only about if the car NEEDS the air tube, not about how to repair it.
TIA
I'm sorry, but what good would pics do? I just need to know if the tube not being connected will throw the ecm into limp mode or cause any other issues.

It should just throw a code. Just an FYI JB weld won't help you. If you got any scrap tin around and a couple of worm drive clamps you could cover the hole
Not needed unless your local authorities say they are. I removed the entire AIR system, then had it tuned out. Many do the same.
As for JB Weld or other epoxy, don't think it'll work. You just need to find someone who is capable of welding 16GA material IMO.
If you live in a smog state --the AIR tubes are simply a "visual inspection" meaning they only look to see it all the AIR tubes are connected--but not necessarily functional
But even then a tuner must disable and turn OFF all the AIR systems and permanently disable all the AIR codes
Now if you are in a non smog state you can plug off all the AIR tubes as a visual inspection is not required BUT you may still have to have a tuner DELETE all the AIR codes so you don't get a check engine light
