Default Transgo kit ??? same as adjusting shift points ???

I have an apointment to have my cars shift points adjusted and tighted up a bit... also going to turn on the radiator fan sooner and new thermostat to run cooler... anyway... is the transgo the same idea here... the shop is going to reprogram my PCM with better shift points... or is the transgo kit something I can add on top of that ???

The transgo shift kit is a mechanical modification of the valve body of the transmission. It's a selection of valves, springs and washers that will increase line pressure over and above the ability of PCM programmer. A worthwhile mod for any C5 A4 IMO:D My best advice is to have a competant transmission technician do the install:yesnod: The kit costs about $109 at www.theLAPD.com...ask for Shawn and tell him I referred you. The install by a professional should be $160-200..well worth it!!:smash:

Check more information on this link. http://www.txchange.com/transgo.htm

Depending on your driving habits, a reprogram may suit your needs :yesnod:
I have shift kits in most of my vehicles( I installed) but in our C5 ( an Every Day Driver) just a reprogram (PLII). It grabs 2nd and chirps 3rd and will throw you sideways if you manually shift from 1-2nd in a turn:eek:
I suggest you see if anyone around you has a reprogram/shift kit C5 and ride shotgun.
Just like exhaust, shift firmness is all in the eye/ears of the beholder.... :yesnod: No wrong answer, just what you like :)
Of course if the "Predator" does as claimed, you can play with that shift firmness yourself!

In my opinion you don't need it. The reprogram of the PCM and turning off of the torque management will make them VERY FIRM! Night and day difference in the car, maybe if you were going to drag race a lot the shift kit might come in handy. Good Luck!
