OFL, How much is too much
The level is about 1/2 inch above the 'operating range'. I'm guessing this represents about 1/2 quart due to the capacity not being even quarts.
Anyway, what is the damage that results from running this way and why?
Anyone know?
Thanks

To answer your question in general. Too much oil causes the crank to foam the oil in the crankcase, which can cause air pockets to get into your motors oiling system, and cause bearings to seize, etc.
BTW, I like your sig about the cheese. I used to have fruit rats I was trying to catch and couldn't figure out how the rat got every drop of cheese (or peanut butter) before setting off the trap. After a while, I realized the others were finishing it off after the first one died. Thats' Cold! :)
