Having some issues with drive ability. Have a 99 Frc manual and when coasting coming to a stop it will die if I don't keep the revs up. Also has an extended crank while starting. And the pump seems to be noisier than normal. Is my fuel pump on its way out? Weird thing is I just changed the fuel filter 2 days ago just for maintenance purposes. Any correlation? Thanks
Definetly after filter install which is why I was wondering if it was coincidence or the problem. I got a filter from advanced auto parts. Bad idea?? Thanks for the help
Yup, it was store brand. Guess I should know better than to put the crap on my car. I can check fuel pressure Monday but I think I'll just get an oe filter. Where can I get one for a decent price. The one I took off is not an option anymore.
I'm in Minnesota. I appreciate your help. I think I just needed to hear from a second party that the filter I put in is not up to par. I did find a thread also about someone that did the same thing as me, got a filter from same store and ran super lean on the dyno. I think I've learned my lesson. Thank you again.
I'm going to check fuel pressure today and no codes. Also probably just going to get a filter from the dealer and see what happens. Thanks for all your help.
It is possible that the filter is not regulating properly. Anyone can get a dud. I just had an AC Delco coolant temperature sensor fail after only a few months. Scared the crap out of me because I thought my new engine was overheating. I will still buy AC Delco parts though.

well, I put in the delco filter and no more extended crank and no more stalling. I guess I have learned my lesson. Thanks for everybody's help
Like the 2 above me said, it pays off to post back what your findings were. Also looks like 8VETTE7 hit the nail on the head with the use of a cheap filter. Cant go cheap on these cars. Even though the latter is approaching 20 years old

I couldn't believe it. They look the exact same in every way but something on the internals must be different
When I change mine I will cut the open the old one.
At about 59psi or so it should send pressure back to the tank. I am thinking that it is as simple as a spring on a ball-bearing inside that regulates flow.
If that is the case then any trash that gets in can make people think that they have a fuel pump failure.
The dealership would charge a small fortune to fix this.
