i gotta do the same on a 00 6 speed man. convertible. I've decided to go with powerbond/dayco hb and arp bolt.
is there only 1 hb to choose from if everything is to remain stock?
can some body post some part #'s?
I see where some suggest replacing seals and cams and want to know why.
can this be done from the top cause i planned on removing the fans/radiator and water pump to clean it all?

Here is the one that I ordered, can't help you with the bolt part number, I went with a gm bolt from the dealership (parts store did not have one on hand) and the bolt was less then $5.00.

PB1117N is the stock size
ARP Pn 234-2503 is the bolt and yes the front crank seal is also a good idea.

It can be done from the top but with the hood in the way, because of the way it opens, a lot of guys remove the hood, which is ok if you want to spend time realigning it.
As for the front seal. Sooner or later that front seal is going to wear out and cause a leak. If you have everything apart already it just makes sense to replace it. Think of it as a low cost insurance policy. How thrilled would be be if after doing the HB work and NOT changing the seal it decides to leak 6 months after you did the HB work. Guess what my friend.....you'll be tearing it all apart again just to replace that seal.
Cam ? that's something of a personnel choice. Again, while everything is apart it just makes sense to do it....if that's what you want.
No rule that say's you have to change the cam.

You have to either completely or partially remove the steering rack, to get the balancer off. That means you have to pull the front wheels, which means you have to get the car off the ground. At this point, it means that you'll actually wind up working from both the top and bottom.......
