Default Key FOB is wacky

My key FOB only works from about 3'-5' away from the car.
The batteries are fresh and they both are working at the same distance.
Not only the short distance but ony certain areas around the car like at the right rear corner of the car, right front corner or standing right at drivers door.

Is this a FOB issue or the receiver in the car?

I would like to get this fixed but don't know where to start.

If your C5 is older than 2001 you can update the key fob, receiver and TPMS to the newer version.

The receiver is located behind and slightly above the driver rear speaker

The TPMS works fine. It's just the fob's don't work worth a crap. Like I said from just a few feet away and only in certain spots around the car.
I assume from what your saying the same receiver runs both the TPMS & the FOB's?

Either it's the FOB, or the receiver. Do you have a second FOB? Does it perform the same, better or worse? If better, you can opt to go with a replacement FOB from Cultrag for around $85 Shipped. I bought one and it works for a pretty long range. Or, as the previous responder stated, you can update the system if you want, BUT that does require removing and replacing the existing TMPS, and an install which isn't that difficult.

I have 2 FOB's, one passive and one not. They both work the same.
