Default I DID IT!!! LS3 intake on an LS1

It wasn't easy but it fits.
Needed:
LS1 to LS3 intake Adapters $200
LS1 to LS3 Injector Adapters $50
MAP Sensor Extention Harness $35
LS1 to LS2 Throttle Body Adapter Harness $50
LS2 90MM TB Silver Blade ( From My G8) $250-300
LS3 Intake ( From My G8) $350 Complete with Injectors.
LS3 Injectors ( From My G8 )
LS3 Fuel Rail ( From my G8 )
4inch Hose Coupler for Throttle Body $20
4 inch OD Pipe, 3 inches long ( Extra piping laying around )
Caps to plug Valve covers ( Spare Caps )
Tune ( Inhouse)
Extend Steam hose and bypass Throttle Body. ( Free Mod )
Trim the edge of the firewall so the Intake clears the initial install due to height.
Once mounted it clears. Or....lower Kmember if you have a lift...mount Intake then bolt kmember back up.
With no tune and vacuum lines unplugged car actually idled just fine. Once vacuum lines plugged it barley idled.
Car made 304rwhp 314rwtq stock 6 speed 1999 C5 LS1.
Headers,Xpipe no cat with factory mufflers and tune made 335rwhp 347rwhtq.
End results coming tomorrow with LS3 Intake.

First one I have seen here. I didn't know the rectangular LS3 ports would preform so well with cathedral port heads.

I'm glad you posted this.

I'm building a LS1 block,LS2 headed,LS3 intake weekend warrior combo.
Car has 60,000 miles. We are tuning it today and we will show you if it made any power by putting it on.
A set of 243 heads milled .015 and a set of comet head gaskets .040 thick are going on to raise the compression to 11.1 as well as a cam.
I feel as though running a LS3 Intake,LS3 Injector,90mm TB as well as 11.1 and a big as cam will net me some very decent HP. I love trying new things. I think my Heads,Cam and intake combo will net me 430 rwhp

Since these adapters work.....there is no reason why an LSA blower won't bolt up to our cars.

Very interesting. I actually did not realize there were those sort of intake adapters.

The only hurdle throwing up for me is it seems like your parts list is rather extensive. If you do not wish to divulge market prices for your parts can you give an idea of what you roughly paid to get through to this point? My concern is I'm wondering if a good LS1/6 aftermarket intake would have been a better price option relative to similar gains that you will see.

I know everyone keeps saying it, but this is very interesting as I was for sure this would or shouldn't ever work....

OK so the results are in.
The red is the 335rwhp 347rwtq Headers,Xpipe and tune only through Stock mufflers and stock LS1 Intake.
The Green Line is the new number which is 334rwhp/355 rwtq. With LS3 intake and retuned.
As you can see it started making Horsepower and Torque all the way across the board much sooner and held it longer until the camshaft or heads stopped flowing and kept it from making any more.
Now it wasn't my intention to make a lot of Horsepower with this intake on the stock LS1 heads and stock LS1 cam...only to see what the difference would be. Now that I have the results the next step will be on Tuesday, that will be pull the LS1 heads off and go to a set of 243 stock heads unported and a decent sized cam with the LS3 intake and get the results.
Then port the LS2 heads and see the results. Port the TB then get the results....underdrive...and electric waterpump and get the results all with the LS3 intake.
Of course I could have went with a LS6 Intake but that's boring....everyone has already done that.
Need to try something different.
I'm aiming for 430-450rwhp with the Stock 243 Heads and LS3 Intake with Cam Underdrive with Mufflers removed. Let's see how I do.

All pulls and tuning are done in House right here at BBR Performance on our Dynojet 224LXC with Eddie Brake.

Why not just get a Fast 102 and a 90mm tb with proven results.

Cause its too easy. If I put a fast 102 intake on it it probably would have made the same power on that same factory cam.

America. Land of the gear-head.
I just love this stuff. And I don't even understand much of it.
Thanks for posting.

Better low end with the LS3 intake, huh? Interesting. Maybe the increase in runner length due to the adapter is a factor?

The (negligible) power increase was expected, but hats off to the scientific approach to upgrading. I bet the heads and cam will like it a lot. Very curious to see how this turns out.
