Default wheel spacer and stud recomendation C5

I have an 04 Z06 (special edition ) and replaced the wheels with some off of a c7. I added a 3/16 spacer to the rears to clear the inner fender but the wheels don't look right as they are tucked in too far. I'd like to bring them out 1/2" but realize the original studs will be short. Can any of you recommend a spacer brand and appropriate replacement studs for my application. I believe the original studs are M12-1.5 and simple thinking tells me I should look for M12-2.0 ? I'm also assuming I'd need specialized/hardened studs to handle the added stress of the spacer.

Thanks, Dave

In M12-1.5, 1.5 is the thread pitch, not the length. The C5's wheel studs are 41.5mm long.

I have C6 wheels on my car with a 12mm spacer in the rear. I use Dorman 610-323 wheel studs which are 12.5mm longer than stock and work perfectly with chrome acorn lug nuts.

If you need to space them out any farther than that, you'll need to go to bolt-on adapters. Hope this helps; good luck!

Thanks for the help and I went ahead and ordered the spacers and new studs. I appreciate the education!

You should also order 2 new hub bolts for the rear hubs. They are T55 torx. There are 3 per rear hub and the lower one on each side of the car must be an oblong hole or something special because I broke a Torx bit and buggered up the bolt head getting them out. A new bit is really helpful. Replacing wheel studs on a C5 is not the most enjoyable job in the world.

How do you swap studs?

I've heard of people doing it on the car, but I remove the hub and pound the studs in and out with a 4 lb. mini-sledge. Make sure you support the hub flange while you are driving the studs in and out so you don't hurt the bearing.

FWIW, I've never had any problems with the Torx bolts, but it never hurts to be prepared.

Do the longer studs become too long for acorn lugs with the stock wheels?

Sorry, I don't know. I haven't tried stock C5 wheels since swapping to the longer studs.

When I bought my C5 I didn't realize the past owner put on C6 rims. I went to do the brakes and noticed rub marks in the back. I put on 1/4" spacers and the longer lug nuts. No issue with rubbing and the tires sit right..

It also explained why my TPMS didnt work. They are out of a C6.

When I replaced my rear studs, I went with the ARP studs since they are race-ready, hardened stud. They come in various lengths and when putting the 19" wheels and 12mm spacer on you need the longer (About 2.5") studs. My stock studs go on with and the studs end at the end of my stock, open, C5 nuts.
