Default 1997 LS1 Oil Temp Question

When I'm sport driving my stock C5 LS1 345 hp at 110 mph up to 160 mph my oil temp is near 245* after 5 minutes of high speed driving

At Highway speeds (65/80) it's 220*ish

Is this normal or on the hot side for this 1997 6 speed

My 2000 Automatic Runs 200-210 at highway speeds on summer days.
It's got a 180* thermostat

Mine will run around 200*, but it takes quite a while (I think) to get there.

I think it's normal. It's been hot out lately and my oil temp hits 220-230 pretty often. The highest I've seen it go was like 255. That's when I was really gunning it when it was 100+ degrees outside. On the track, I've read Z06s can hit 260-270. The oil life meter takes into account the temps. The longest I've been able to go on a single oil change is about 4,000 miles. It usually expires after about 3k. But I know 2001 and later got it re-calibrated, so I don't have any qualms about waiting until my 2000 reads 5% or actually says change oil now before I do it.

You want your oil to at minimum get to 212 to boil off moisture made bye the combustion process. Moisture makes oil acidic and it is hard on bearings.
