Default front turn signals

my 2000 base model has had a problem with intermittent working of the front turn signals, since I bought it in nov. 2014. is this common, and if so what is the best fix. thanks again, mike.

C5's directional signals, along with brake lights all work through the emergency flasher switch, which are know to go bad. I would start the trouble shooting with that switch although I have to warn you, it's not the easiest part to get to. Most remove the center console to get to it but I know there is a thread here showing how you can access the switch easier.

check the contacts to the turn signal bulbs. The front turn signal housings are notorious for melting due to the heat of the stock bulbs. This then unseals the housing allowing moisture to corrode the connection.

I just went to a local high pressure car wash today, and the right front turn signal that was working is not working, leading me to believe that it maybe shorting out? both sides work/quit intermittently of each other. all thoughts/ help is always appreciated!

is it easier to access the housings when the car is on a lift, as i'm handicapped, and get down under the front end is a problem.

The first time I changed a turn signal bulb, I jacked up the front wheel and took off the plastic wheel well cover.

The last time I had to change a bulb, I figured there had to be an easier way, and there is. Pop up the headlights and remove the plastic bezel around it. There are 3 screws. Then open the hood. If you position yourself properly, you can reach down from the top and get to the turn signals. Doing it that way takes about 5 minutes, vs 25 minutes when you take off the wheel well and reach from underneath.
