Twilight sensing

I'm a new C5 owner without a manual, so please bear with my ignorance; Is there any way to turn off/disable the "twilight sensor" that keeps popping my headlights on whenever I go under a bridge, or drive in the shade? I'm afraid of wearing out my headlight door motors/gears.

That was the first thing I did when I bought my '04. Drove me crazy turning on and off all the time.
