The problem is when the lights are on and I try to use the turn signal. The bulb color changes from white to a purple-ish color instead of amber. The amber does work with the lights off. I'm wondering if the problem could be due to a defective hyperflash harness? I'd like to figure out the issue before I screw up another set of bulbs.

Are you getting all of you're bulbs from the same vendor?
I had one switchback bulb fail like you described, replaced and its been fine ever since. I'd also check the DRL bulb sockets for corrosion. See post #9 in the link below.
I bought the first set from JW motoring, but that was the first version ever. After those failed in the same way as described in my first post, I replaced them with the second version. Both versions failed after winter storage, so I'm wondering if the extreme cold in Michigan could be damaging the units.
I replaced the housings and cleaned the contacts in the sockets. I'll be sure to take another look when I put new bulbs in.
