Default 2001 C5 Z06 Mighty Mouse catch can install how to

Ok, like usual I'm in the middle of something and am probably just over thinking or misunderstanding something simple. I'd just rather get this right the first time and since I didn't find a specific write up this post can serve as one for other's in the future. Let's start here...

My car is an 01Z so LS6. However, my factory ports look like the ones shown here in the MM instructions for LS2, except that the throttle body has been removed from the image. See image 1.

After seeing the differences I planned to base my routing off of the LS2 layout. If there's an issue with that I don't know what it would be. Interestingly enough when I google LS6 PCV diagram I find an image that matches mine. See image 2.

So, given that that's ok let's move on to the next thing...

The instructions that came with the kit state...

The driver's side valve cover PCV barb can be used for fresh air hose connection to the throttle body.

I do not have a barb there, simply a grommet with a plug. See image 3.

If I follow the instructions farther it states...

If newer style barbed valley plate is available these can be used one or the other interchangeably.

This I think is describing the port shown here. See image 4. Valley port. This matches the LS2 diagram in the instructions (see image 1 again), however in that image the port is capped and the driver's valve cover port is used instead. Is there any advantage to using one over the other or are they truly interchangeable?

If understanding this correctly I'm going to run a hose from valley port, image 4, to throttle body port. See image 5.

I will then run a hose from intake manifold port (see image 6), to catch can barbed port.

Lastly I will run a hose from threaded catch can port to oil fill adapter port.

The passenger side valve cover port will then be capped. See image 7.

especially on the wild kits sometimes there is some creativity and interpretation involved.

you nailed it.

fresh air from top of non-boosted throttle body to valley plate for pcv fresh air supply
(if you had a fitting you could have used the driver cover if you wanted, they are neither better or worse IMO). some that do not have either i also have a part on my site called 'pcv' orifice you can replace your black plug with if you need a port.

from there dirty pcv air plus blowby air leaves the new much larger vent line at the oil fill adapter to the can

any vacuum the pcv regulates onto the can through the intake manifold will scavenge the can, and any flow greater than intake manifold vacuum blows off out the breather.

Nice! Thanks David! LOVE the kit.

The plastic neck from the passenger valve cover that the oil cap adapter is mounted to... Can it be removed and the adapter mounted directly to the valve cover? If so I'd put a 90 on the can, maybe even a 45, and use whatever fitting necessary on the adapter. I could gain some hood clearance, and maybe have a bit neater hose routing.

yes you can mount the adapter direct to the valve cover if you like.

as long as the throttle is not pressurized you can continue to use the port top / front of throttle blade

Hi guys. I thought instead of starting a new thread i might as well post here as this is about a

MIGHTY MOUSE WILD catch can for C5 Z06.

My car is a 2003 Z06. Im trying to install the catch can.

It came without the mount so i had to fab one. Now that im ready to install the hoses, i see my catch can is not the same as the op.

Here is a pic with the hoses just layed out to there correct barbs/connectors.

It seems the push lock and the screw in one or reversed.

Please help.

The wild system comes with the universal mount which you got. Not the head mount, which of course we can do on request. The fitting positions are switchable as described on the instructions. Put them how you prefer.
Connections are always oil fill to matching can inlet. PCV valve exit to intake manifold. Passenger port capped, driver port OR valley port to between maf and throttle blade (this is top of the if equipped) stock Cai position for n/a or in front of turbo or centri-sc air filter pipe.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did not see how to change the bungs...?

Does the sight glass always have to face to front of the car? Could you please send me a link to the instructions on how to switch the bungs? It seems they are not switchable cause one has a brass filter and the other one goes inside the can...

Thanks for your help..hope i make sense.
