I just bought an '02 with only 11k miles. sometimes the driver seat will not return to the memory position when the door is closed and the key is in the ignition. It may work ten times in a row and then won't work ten times in a row. any ideas?
Are you certain you use the FOB to unlock the door on the times the seat does not return?? The FOB is what tells the memory system which driver is getting into the car so that the proper settings can be restored.
Alternatively you can press the memory button that you used to program your seat, mirror and other settings to get them all restored.
Suggest that if you have not already read the owners manual on how the memory system works you do so.
the memory button will move the seat to the right position.
I have not thought about the fob. usually the car is unlocked. I will try locking the car and then unlocking it. to see what happens.
thanks. can't do this until friday.
Do you have the "Seat Easy Entry" feature turned ON?
It sort of works in conjunction with the MEMORY feature in that when you exit the car (turn engine OFF and remove the key) the seat is automatically moved to the rearward most position. Then when you unlock the car with the FOB the memory system recognizes which FOB was used for the UNLOCK and then when you insert the key into the ignition the memory system restores ALL the items memorized for that FOB. ie driver seat position, outside rear view mirror positions, telescopic steering wheel position, radio presets, tone and volume, playback mode, last displayed station, compact disc position or tape deck direction and last climate control.
I have that feature turned on. and it works sometimes
My experience also so I have it turned OFF. Same with some of my memory functions. Sometimes work and sometimes NOT. But I have lots more miles on my car than you. One would hope that an almost new (in terms of miles) car would have most functions still working.
I long for the days that all you had to do is pull a lever to adjust the seat. Old school here.
I found that frustrating until I realized I had to use the fob to unlock it and that works every time when I out the key in the ignition - doesn't have to be locked just hit the unlock from the fob every time you get in - at least that works for me

Agree with this, gotta hit the unlock for all to set properly, locked or not.
