Rapid and dim left blinker problem
C5 Corvette 1998 here. Experiencing the following:
-Left blinker is dim and will blink rapidly when using the left turn signal
-Car alarm goes off every time I open the door after I leave the car alone and locked for awhile (20ish minutes)
-Codes: ldcm/rdcm 1064 H, bcm b2583 H, TCS 1286 C and 1281 H, and a couple HVAC codes
Not sure if all the electrical problems are related or what.
Cleaned off 8 of the 13 grounds over the weekend and replaced bulbs----no fix!
A couple weeks ago the passenger window would roll down on its own but that problem is gone now.
Please help!! Thanks
BCM is in the passenger foot well to the left of the IPC fuse box behind the toe kick that is at the end of the foot well. That aluminum box houses the BCM board.
The two TCS codes are indicating that the steering wheel position sensor (SWPS) is bad. Unfortunately the only source for a replacement SWPS for the 97 - 2000 C5 are from a salvage yard. No new ones available since about 2009.
Do any of the other sensors report NO COMM?????
The passenger side foot area hasn't gotten wet since I've owned the car (1 month). Also, it's been garaged in Texas and New Mexico for all of its life, so there's very little corrosion anywhere thanks to the dry climate. Even the grounds were all in pretty good shape.
I also didn't see any white oxidation stains or anything resembling water damage or rust on the BCM box.
I guess I can live with that steering wheel sensor issue for now, but the rapidly blinking turn signal and the car alarm issues are annoying to the max. When I put the headlights up and put on the turn signal, most of the time it will make that "ding ding" sound like when the door is open with the keys in the car.
Can't impress the babes either when it feels like you're breaking into your car every time and the car dings at you when you make a left turn!!
Any other ideas?
There are no other codes other than the 2 HVAC codes.
Do the NO COMM reports show in the manual diagnostics? The tire pressure sensors do not report any information, however I don't see "NO COMM" anywhere.
I should also mention the display says "Service Vehicle Soon".
I recently replaced the oil pressure sensor, but I don't think that's related to these electrical problems, but I could be wrong.
Any ideas? Thanks for your help
