1998 C5 design 1 steering rack
Help. Does anyone know if a design 2 steering rack will interchange with the design 2, harness routed above gear, steering rack.
Mine was damaged in a collision and the GM dealer said he can't find an early 1998 type 1 design.
Dealer wants $1,500 to rebuild rack!

I have the rack and pinion from my 99 coming out this week...no issues...I can get it out, cleaned up and on the way....just be forewarned many parts folks want a core charge upfront to be refunded if yours is rebuildable you also have to ship yours back....I don't

I pulled the vette out of the dealer yesterday and flat bedded it up to Corvette Center in Newington CT for the repair. I can forward them your info if they need a replacement rack. Contact me. thx

If you still have your rack available, we can rebuild it starting at $300.00 (plus s&h). There is roughly a two week turn around right now on rack rebuilds.
