Default Audio/double din question

im not sure if any of you have wondered and id like to be pointed in the right direction as I am going back to a c5z very soon

so the question is: can I replace the entire ugly radio AND climate control with a large touchscreen one that takes up the entire area of the radio and climate control and the caveat is can I also utilize the touch screen to control climate?

any help would be appreciated thanks guys!!

You mean like how it is in a Tesla? That would be cool.

There's a lot that goes on within the climate control unit that would likely make this very difficult to even attempt to implement.

There are two types of climate control setups in the C5. The "dual climate" controller (the one with the LCD display in the middle) and the base "manual" controller with three *****. The base unit is largely mechanically driven, with the dual climate unit relying on a lot of electrical factors (to control the blend door, drivers adjustments, etc).

At initial glance the dual climate unit would be the one to attempt to implement into such a feature. However the issue would be the unit controls a tremendous amount of functions in it's operation. Not only is the blend door electronically operated but if the car is equipped with memory function the controller has operations that run based off saved settings from the door panel.

Effectively you would have to figure out some way to isolate each function into the controller, construct something that could then be implemented into a touch device, which would then actually have to work with said device.

It'd be a tremendously trying endeavor that I don't know would be worth it just to have integrated HVAC that you'd then have to cycle through anyway along with the entertainment features, whereas stock entertainment and HVAC are separate.

Dennis @ DD Mods provides a great service and will answer the phone if you need any help installing. Love the Kenwood double din I got from him as well as the console mod he did to make it fit.
