I bought a 2001 6speed about two weeks ago, and earlier today when I was driving it the radio stopped working. The PO had installed a flip-up DVD player I don't like so I got a radio to replace it. When I started taking things apart I found the PO had drilled holes in the shift boot, and console to wire the shift boot to the console. I carefully removed the wires, and went on to remove the back part of the console. In removing that I found the fuel door switch had been taken apart and had two wires soldered onto the contacts. The wiring to the switch has been cut and but connectors used to connect the wires to the switch. There is a tan wire from something connected to something with a but connector. I now moved on to remove the radio, and I found the PO had cut the some or all of the factory radio connectors off of the car, and used more crimp but connectors to connect most of the wires for the DVD player. People that do stuff like this to cars.....
Now I'm trying to repair the damaged wiring, and install the new radio. I don't have any diagrams for the car yet. I know i need to replace the fuel door switch, and some of the wiring connectors.
I tried looking in C5 and general audio faq the information I need is no longer available. Does anyone have detailed diagrams for the radio and center console wiring for a 2001? Any suggestions on the wiring connectors I don't have because of the PO?
I didn't take any pictures of the center console wiring mess.
Unless the radio connectors are a high demand part you may not be able to find new repair pigtails. You can check places like EFI Connection or Casper Electronics. Your best bet is to contact a Corvette Parts Recycler like Vettenuts. The only other option would be to buy the component parts and build your own repair pigtail which would be a real PITA.

Here is the radio schematic and fuel door release schematic.
I somehow found that Scosche, and Metra make what they call a reverse wiring harness that connects to a factory stereo. I think the Scosche GM02RB should work. Am I correct that the GM02RB is the correct connector for the factory radio?

I'll order a GM02RB. I found the connector I saved from a different car. I should have all but 6 wires connected. There are two dark green wires I don't know what they do. I think the pink wire is switched power, and the black/white stripe is ground. I will double check those before I solder/heat shrink them onto the connector. I think the two orange wires are for illumination, but I'm not sure if they have different jobs. The PO use a crimp wire number to connect both of them.

I was wondering about that, but the wire for that on the DVD player was connected to ground. The tan/white stripe wire (I didn't notice the white strip before) is part of the wire bundle near the fuel door, and active handling button.
I now know it was connected to the switched 12v on the radio.

What was supposed to be simply replacing what I thought was a dead radio has turn into repairing the radio wiring, fog light wiring, and probably more. What kind of stupid do you have to be to wire the radio into the fog lights and cut wires on both sides?
