Also, regarding the way you asked me to pull the codes. Am I correct in assuming this might be a good way to check on any screw up after service? (like I just went through)
Thanks again for the input and help...you're made my life a little easier knowing what it is going into this and not letting someone bullshit me into this, that or the other as some mechanics like to do.

You can certainly look to see if the connector for the SWPS has become disconnected or the wiring is damaged. The SWPS is against the firewall where the column goes through it and the connector (at least on mine) is on the left side.
Not easy to see things even with the seat as far back as it will go because of the limited room in the drivers foot well get your head in there.
As far as pulling codes, I do that on a regular basis on my own car just to see what is happening. I still do as much of the work on my car as possible so I do not have to deal with the BS that one often gets from a Stealership. If there is ever something I cannot figure out with the aid of my shop manuals I come to the Forum for assistance.
