Default XS Power headers fitment issues

In PARTS FOR SALE OR WANTED section member Roddy13 posted having major fitment issues with the XS Power headers. I have a set I purchased about two years ago. I intended installing these this Winter.

Has anyone else encountered major problems with these headers? Or, has anyone installed the headers without any issues? Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks for any info.

I bought mine in 2014 and they fit poorly. The driver's side was the worst. Had to notch the frame a little, and went through several iterations of installing, removing, heating, denting, and re-installing in order to clear the steering shaft. I wouldn't recommend them.

I think they were revised later to improve fitment--hopefully you got the later revision?

Do you think older, compressed motor mounts might contribute to the fitment problems?

Nope, brand new OEM mounts here. Actually, now that I think of it, if the motor mounts were lower, it may have helped...

I bought mine a year ago and had issues with figment, they would rub on the steering shaft and the collector was just about touching the bell housing.

After I saw all the problems with them I decided Hinson was what I wanted.

I sure hope they fit in your case because you would be lucky to get any kind of support from wherever you bought them being it was so long ago

Mr. Pounder, glad your's have worked out. Don't know what version I have. I vaguely remember that they are Version 2. Maybe If I cross my fingers I'll have good luck. From the postings it looks like it's a 50 - 50 shot.

Did you try to find any 3" cat cat backs?

no I had the Cat Back on before the headers, was thinking of replacing but knew headers make anything sound better and they made it sound super !!!!!

full 3" would be nice but there aren't many choices out there and you can make plenty of power on a 2.5" axle back

Hey Maybe they'll make a new version 4 that won't require you to butcher your car up and pull all your hair out ! The more I read it Seems this company uses the public as their guiena pigs . After ten or so years you'd think they'd get the fitment ironed out by now

I was in touch via email yesterday with Superman09. He's a Supporting Vendor on here and owner of Huron Speed. He's the only guy I know of that sells these headers new. I quizzed him about all the negative postings I've read and he said "The people that have issues and post up have all been minor, and nothing that hasn't been able to be resolved. I would carry on with installing and if you need any assistance during we will be happy to help. Worst case scenario a small ding in a primary will clear the steering shaft, but this will also depend on the wear of your engine mounts and not a common problem, just something that has popped up in some scenarios of headers with worn engine mounts, etc. Hope this helps!they are only having minor problems."

So, evidently, All you guys just need a small ding and every thing will fall into place. No problem ...

What I don't get is, once they had whatever version that fit fine, why change it?

Something must have changed if they aren't fitting right anymore.

I've had them a long time now (maybe 5 years or more) and they fit fine without any modifications. It was tough to get the passenger header in, but everything cleared fine once in position. The header and steering shaft have clearance when sitting, but must touch a wee bit when driving because there is a mark around the shaft. No wear though so I haven't worried about it.
