I was at ViR today and somehow my wheel speed sensor wiring got wrapped around my axle on driver's side and broke the wires. The car then would not keep running and would not restart. After getting towed off track I fixed the broken wires with crimped butt connectors and cleared all codes, but the car still won't run. It will crank over but I don't hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the ignition on. My understanding is that the car should still run with a wheel speed sensor disconnected anyways, so it is a baffling problem. I tried pulling the fuses for the abs and same thing. There are no codes on the dic. It threw c1234 when the sensor was disconnected but that code no longer appears. Any ideas?
I agree the wheel speed sensor shouldn't turn the fuel off, but it was only a few seconds after the service abs light came on (sensor wire broke) that the car shut off. It ran rough for a few seconds like you would expect if it wasn't getting any more fuel pressure. I was able to get it to run fine twice after I fixed the wiring, but when I turned it off and took it off jack stands it wouldnt run when I started it again.
More info: Sometimes the open door chime will keep going after I pull the key, and then stop after about 10 seconds. I thought it might be a serial data corruption issue so I isolated the dcms by pulling the top of the 4 wire connector next to the bcm, but that didn't change anything. Also unplugged both door connectors inside the accordion tubes and nothing changed. No signs of water around the bcm or interior. There is a small amount of battery leakage under the battery tray. I am thinking ignition switch contacts right now, is there an easy way to narrow that down without disassembling the dash?
