Well after receiving by TPIS Headers about a week ago I finally decided to take the plunge and install them this weekend. My brother, a friend of his and myself started at about 7:30PM and finally finished at with everything at 2AM. When I say finished I mean that the headers are all bolted up and the only thing left is to have the H-Pipe welded to the Cats tomorrow. It wasn't as hard as I was thinking it would be and like most car projects it was pretty fun (except for banging my knuckles numerous times trying to get some of the header bolts off). I'll post back when I star her up. Cheers  :D
I have to give you credit for doing it yourself. I watched mine being installed with the help of a lift and it didn't look like too much fun. Good job on a successful job and good luck with them!
You might want to consider an off road x-pipe BEFore you start welding..Take a look at my TPIS x-pipe install on my home page..makes for a nice nasty roar at WOT and smooth growl at cruise..just my .02
Update:
Well the car is off the jackstands and has been started :D :reddevil :reddevil . Let me just tell you that open headers on an LS1 sound so bad@zz that some of the neighbors that came out to see what was going on thought that the devil himself had probably come out of our garage. I can't tell everyone how happy I am for doing it myself :D , put I couldn't have done it without the help of some of the tips given by forum members :).
I was planning on doing the same install soon at home. Where are the tips you refer to? Are you having a welder come to your home or driving the car to the welder? Did you get the jet coated headers? How do they look? Does TPIS include install instructions? Thanks.
Capecodcoupe,
I got have the Jet coated headers, and they look pretty sweet, they're pretty shiney. I ordered them from Xtreme Motorsports and they sent me the directions off the TPIS website http://www.tpis.com/InstructionPages/C5Header.html . As far as the install goes, it is pretty straight forward, but here are some tips. You don't need to remove the fuelline or move the steering shaft, but pretty much everything else needs to come off. I took the drivers side valve cover off but I'm not sure if I really needed to, because I didn't do this on the passanger side. Another helpful tip that I got off the forum was to push the engine to the side using a 2x4. When you use the 2x4 the headers practically slip in on their own. As for welding I'm just going to drive it a low RPMs hehe to a shop.
