Default LS7 swap into a C5

What are the problems associated with putting a LS7 into a C5. Not stuck on the dry sump either. Probably go wet. How about the long snout LS7 crank using the C5 accessories? Do I need the LS7 ECM and wiring or can I just retune my ECM in the 2000 C5? I assume the tube will hook up to the back of the LS7 engine. Running a A4 although that could change.

Just pulled the LS1 which was FI and most of the mods are already out. Have a new FI unit to go in but thinking about selling the C5 as a demodded vehicle and putting the FI system in a C6 or C7 to be purchased.

Have a 102 FAST intake and throttle body from a LS7. No headers or exhaust manifolds etc for the LS7.

Not stuck on the LS7 but like the cubes and aluminum block. Have looked at stroked LS2 and LS3 as well.

Mods move this if not in the right zone.

If you do not want to go dry sump, do not go with a LS7. My vote would be LS3.

Yeah the Valve guides have me scared of the LS7. I would go LS3 too.

I got a killer deal on a Doug Rippie built LS7. Heads were done by WCCH, and it's a wet sump. It's a monster but still have low speed tuning issues that I'm not smart enough to figure out. In my opinion the C5 computer just doesn't allow for the fine tuning you need on these later model motors.

Just purchased 2002Z with ls7, had biggest cam Texas speed makes, swapped it for Milder cam better confined for autocross and HPDE, it STILL has issues at low idle, have you solved your low speed tuning issues and if so, how did you do it?

Thank you for your assistance

I also have an LS7 in my C5, same issues with low idle tune. Love the power and troque, but a lot of little things to figure out. I don't even want to start talking about my converstion to E85 But once its figured out, it'll be awesome.

I bought my 2002 Z off CF and it was set and running on E85 when I bought it, and yes with idle issues. Had about 2,500 miles on the engine, first thing I did was put it back to 93 as I do not need the extra power and octane and do not want what I perceive to be maintenance issues of E85 and will be driving to some events where E85 might not be available. My LS7 was bored and is a 440, had the biggest Texas Speed cam made. As I am an autocross and HPDE kind a guy opposed to drag, I switched to a milder cam with a better torque curve for my application. I have the old cam for sale if you know of anyone looking for one. Also added the Dewitt radiator with oil cooler. My car has the wet sump (ls2 pan) and am going to change it to dry sump in the next few weeks. Lethal performance and Dyno in Jefferson City (20 minutes east of Knoxville) has been tuning and it pulled 560hp at rear wheels on the dyno yesterday and he thinks he has all the low idle codes and issues resolved. I will find out tomorrow when I pick it up as a I have an autocross test/tune on Saturday and first autocross event Sunday at Bristol. Keep in touch and let me know if I can help you in any way. Scott

oh, I have a set of CCW classics in full polish on the car, the fronts are 17 x 11 rims riding on Kumno XS 295/35 (tires are about 50 % wear but have a new set of front tires, never mounted, that comes with he package) On the rear have 17 x 12 CCW classics riding on 315/35 at about 90%. Am looking at going 335 square, so will be selling these if you know anyone.
