lets make some Crossbeam adapters

so here we go, I bought 2x3x1/4 rectangular tubing , and i had 1/4 plate laying around, the pads are 3 5/8 x 6 3/4 and the end caps hang down 1/2", these weigh about 20# and i have not put a jack shaft on, i am going to try just resting on my jack saddle
took about 45 minutes to cut everything with a cutoff wheel and about an hour to tack it up

i am going to do a full mock up with more then tack welds but less then full seams and will test it. i think i will add gussets to the pads sides just because i can....

capped ends so the jacks dont slip out

and they also fit the smaller jack stands

and yes these will get up pretty high

i enjoy doing these as fun projects so the time really isn't an issue for me. now the mrs thinks its time misspent but not me....

Stuff like that seems so useful it must be fun to build, and gives me a desire to weld.
Then I remember I don't have any welding stuff and do have a lot of other stuff .
Still, if you make up some light weight stuff, for free, of course, I could use a set. Until then, I"m useing oak doorsills , cheaper than oak boards, my car is lowered, or I would use thicker and cheaper wood. This is marginal for the lifted weight.

add a couple gussets and this thing will never deflect.

for you other guys if you are inclined i would recommend buying a MIG welder they are a blast, they have all different price points and even the 120v ones are pretty good these days. I like welding for fun and have have all the welders TIG, ARC, MIG, 0/A and spotwelder. i think they are blast to toy around with . so was this an excuse to weld.... sure it was....i love to weld and make stuff, but it also fit the need in a pretty durable fashion.
