I was swapping some rims/tires today and remembered some questions on what they looked like and if they were on all but Cali cars.......These are on our 2000 we ordered for VA.
Sorry Kewl........uh.................. NO, remember the factory of today is no different from the factory of the 60's in that SHI* happens.
I find stuff once in a while on the 1st Gen F-bodys that " didn't happen" & forward the proof to Camaros .ORG to verify it....
I have found this throught the 80's, 90's & now.
This is an unmolested from the factory car built for us in VA with 4 miles at delivery............. :D
I am not to concerned...........they won't be there to much longer ;)

My bad. I assummed your car was NE emmissions. Since based on your response, I assume its not. Thanks for bringing this oddity to light. By the way, do you have your window sticker? I assume it says
FE9 Federal Emissions?
or does it say
NB8 CA/Northeast Emission Override
NC7 Federal Emissions Override
NG1 Massachusetts/New York Emissions Requirements
Well...... Window sticker......says nothing........The glove box says NG1.........the underhood decal says ok for use in Cali
They must of had a set of emission exhaust sitting around to use.......on our car
Im in Cali and my C5 has these unnecessary power-robbers. Im glad Im putting in my longtube headers in their place. Cats are good enough to keep my car low smog
My '02 roadster has them also but I thought they stopped putting them on after '01?
So, how much faster could I run and how much more power would I have without them?

Actually, beginning in 01 is when all C5's received the PUP Cats. Except that for the Z06 in 2002, they removed them, and went with larger more efficient main cats. The pup cats for the LS1 cars continue.
Only a few specific emmisions bound C5's received pup cats in 2000. Regular Federal Emissions C5's in 2000 did not receive them.
As far as power? Probably worth 5 or so peak HP to remove or gut them.
