Default cam sounds

just installed custom grind 220/224 115 lsa cam in my 2002 Z06 mainly for a light lope and that krackel exhaust sound. what I got was more lope and no choppy krackel sound although it still sounds great as before. Already had bolt-ons ,,. CAI , LT headers , X-pipe , no cats , Borla stinger exhaust . Am I stuck with this sound because of the size of my cam or can a good tuner bring out that krackel sound I'm looking for ?

Could you find a video with the "krackel" sound and post it or post the link? Not exactly familiar with that term. That being said, you're running an extremely mild cam. It might be hard for a tuner to get that sound with that cam.

Here's a link , Maybe a better way to describe sound is a crispier chop sound . Myhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVi6pn_Nzpo current exhaust note seems to be the same as before the cam just with the lope

overlap is what causes the choppy idle.the more overlap the choppier the idle.your cam doesn't have much overlap.if you had a 112 lsa it would have a bit more chop.
if my math is right your cam has -8 degrees of overlap.here's a clip of the asa cam that has 11 degrees

here is a cam with 25 degrees overlap

I'm going to post a couple of videos of cars which I know what cam is in them. You tell me if either one is the sound you're looking for. First is Blair's on youtube. Blair's cam is a 230/236 114 LSA.
Next one is my car. This is an LS3 with a big cam. 244/259 114 LSA. This car is also supercharged with 700rwhp.
Are either one of these sounding correct?

For reference, here is what my car sounds like. PO posted the video. It is a 240/244 - 112+5 LSA cam. I think that "crackle" you are asking about is also due to higher compression. Mine is around 11.35 CR.

Yes , Blairs vette sounds like mine . I was incorrect on my LSA , It's 112 LSA . Your's sounds amazing ! That's a Krackel sound !!!! I'm guessing that sound only comes with a bigger cam

Overlap, you need more if you want that sound. Don't pick a cam because it sounds cool, pick a cam based of needs and wants.

Thanks. On the 1st video you posted, that has a BTR Stage 4 cam in it and that's also quite a bit bigger than yours. Specs on that cam are 235/242 .621"/.592" 111+3. So if that's the sound you're looking for, yeah, you'll prob need a bigger cam. Can you post a video of yours?

I was looking for the same thing. I went with a Lingenfelter GT1 218/229 - .595/.595 lift w/ 1.8, - 113. Stock cube, ported TMS 317 heads, Magnuson Supercharger, 1 3/4" longtube headers, no cats, X-pipe, Z06 exhaust with bypass mod. The bypass mod really woke up the cam sound.
