no a/c on drivers side

I am sure this has been asked before but, on my 97 the a/c stopped on drivers side, pass side ok. I know its a damper door not either opening or closing, either from a stripped gear or bad signal from the control unit. any insight?

Define "stopped." No air comes out of DS but does out of PS? Or you get warm air on DS and cold air from PS (with A/C on)?

My 05' Suburban had the same problem and I had to replace the actuator on the driver's side. It fixed the problem and I was told if I had to replace the passenger side, it would require complete removal of the dash and +$1K in parts and labor etc...
