Default What is this wire?

I took my console out to do the re-solder trick on the AC and replace a few burned out bulbs and found this wire wrapped around the ignition key hole. It's been cut and sealed. What is it? Should I leave it the way it is?

Thanks in advance.

If VATS is working on your car leave it alone. Not factory for reasons known only to a previous owner. Perhaps the wire was accidentally severed and repaired?????
I figured it was part of that VATS system. Mine starts fine every time so I won't mess with it. Also, I saw you post in another thread about the column lock issue. My steering wheel turns freely with the key off, so I'm assuming I'm good to go. Thanks as always 8VETTE7.

Looks like the previous owner cut the wire and spliced in a resistor of the correct value to bypass the VATS for some reason. I can see the other end of the wire hiding up by the back of the ignition switch in your picture.
