Re: Alignment??? What settings for a 2000 lowered 1 inch??? (BlackSun!)
The stock setting ranges are OK, if you are primarily a street driver, except for front camber. Have the camber set so as to be as close to 0 as possible, and you should avoid the inner front tire wear that many of us have seen. :yesnod: :)
Re: Alignment??? What settings for a 2000 lowered 1 inch??? (carpe dm)
Does anybody know what the camber settings on a Z06 is? How about for an LS1 stock?
I will lower my car in a few days, and wait a week before alignment. I want to have my settings down so I could just tell the alignment shop what I want
Re: Alignment??? What settings for a 2000 lowered 1 inch??? (Patman36)
I drove my car for 2 1/2 weeks before I took it in, the techs left their worksheet in the car (I guess it was an accident), and it showed that my caster was the only thing out of adjustment on the front but everything was in the red on the rears, so it is definately a good plan to spend $100.00 for this :smash: :smash: :smash:
Re: Alignment??? What settings for a 2000 lowered 1 inch??? (BlackSun!)
The C5s don't bump steer too much so you don't need to really worry about toe but the camber gain by lowering is significant and is the most important number to look at if you are concerned with premature tire wear.
At the shop I go to, MSI, they set up ride height first, including corner weights with electric scales.
They then drive (or had me drive) the car for 10-20 miles and this settles the suspension most of the way.
They use a NASCAR style laser alignment system -
Front toe is in 1/8 to 3/16 degree. Camber is set between 0 and 1/4 degree negative. Castor in the 5.5 to 6.5 range. In the rear they go for 1/16 to 1/8 toe out and 0 to 1/4 neg camber.
Mark (@MSI)will then monitor your tire wear and customize your alignment to suit your driving needs. on my car I only had 1/4 degree neg camber and was prematurely wearing out the inner part of my tires while he is running 1/4 degree negative all the way around on his and he is seeing a bit of extra wear on the outer shoulder in the front and dead even wear on the rear. I guess it has to do with our driving styles. He straightened mine up to 1/8 degree just last week , so we will see how it goes. Seat of the pants, I can't tell the difference.
He said that it would blow your mind how many C5s out there are running positive camber and are killing their tread life and handling.

Chris,
Most any alignment shop that uses a laser system (which I require for a good alignment) has the alignment settings available via a computer database. If you still want to know what the settings are, do a search on alignment settings and you should find the data you need.
