I run a 97 c5 with the F45 suspension system. Its working fine but Im thining of upgrading it for next years season in autocrossing. What recomendations do you have? Coil Overs? Z51? Has anyone converted an F45?
Re: Converting from F45... What choices do I have? (Red5)
I have a 2000 with the F45. Adding the Z51 sway bars front and rear really improved the autocross handling and kept the car way flatter. About $250 from Fitchner Chevrolet and relatively easy to install. Make sure you get the metal end links. Send me an e-mail and I will forward some pics from a track event I attended on Labor Day which will show you the reduced roll of the car in fast, tight corners.
Re: Converting from F45... What choices do I have? (Red5)
When you convert from the f45 you will need to put a 15 ohm resistor in line on the shock plug to keep it from throwing codes and shutting the car down at 80 mph. You will realy like a stiffer shock the stock ones are real soft. You might also think about changing springs the stock F45 is very light. If you need any help with the resistors Email me.
good luck, Dale

Dale C:
Did you go with the 800# VBP front monospring? Would you recommend switching to a heavier rear monospring as well? I would also appreciate your details on the F45 resistor. I'm changing out over the next 2 weeks to get ready for our annual first choice AutoX here in Houston.
Re: Converting from F45... What choices do I have? (Red5)
You can buy the resistors at radio shack I used 5 watt 15 ohm. There are only 2 wires in the plug for each shock I just soldered one end of the resistor to each wire and put heat shrink over them.
Re: Converting from F45... What choices do I have? (DALE C)
I have a 910# front spring and a 580 rear. I am getting ready to go to a 700 to 750 pound rear. You can call VPB they have several different spring rates.
