This happened to me. There are several posts here and on you.tube about the relays in the door control module. I bought a repaired one on eBay for about $140. You can change the relays yourself if you can solder really well.
Let's clarify something a little bit please. Just a little bit more detail on the 90% vs 10% issue. Are you talking about when using the FOB to lock/unlock or are you talking about actually pressing the door lock switch on the door itself? If when using your remote to lock/unlock, the issue could be with the remote itself or in one of many electrical items as described by 8Vette7. Aren't electrical problems fun?
Might be the relays in the door control module or it might be a bad actuator or it might be a poor connection in the door somewhere. All have been seen here on the Forum.
Very tough to diagnose an intermittent problem without testing LOTS of careful testing.
Throwing parts at the symptom can get expensive and frustrating quickly.
If it were my car I would live with the symptom until the problem became a consistent failure. I can live with 90% success. But that's coming from a cheap old man. YMMV

If his does what my 2000 does, it’s most likely that when the lock or unlock button is pressed, it will only actuate the lock on one door or the other, typically the passenger door that fails.. I have to reach over and manually lock or unlock it.. but like the OP’s car, mine doesn’t do it enough to worry about it
