Default Is this normal headlight behavior?

https://streamable.com/uvjdq

I've got this rather odd headlight behavior (see above video) going on. When the selector switch is set to "headlights" my lights pop up and turn on as normal. However when I move the selector back to "parking lights" my headlights stay popped up and the driver side headlight stays on while the passenger side turns off. It's weird that one light is turning off and one is staying on. What's going on here; any ideas?

Note I hate ACA headlight housings.

Either headlight module or multi-function switch issue.

The headlight module can cause issues where one side raises or lowers and the other doesn't. It is a replaceable part that was also used in Firebirds and Fieros and carries a similar design.

The multi-function switch (the actual stalk assembly on the column) very commonly wears out and being the primary controller of the headlights creates issues with the headlights working improperly. The unfortunate thing is that due to the varying degree of wearing of the switch it can make exact diagnosis difficult as the switch will wear in a multi-(hehe)-tude of ways. Multi-function switches can be replaced (labor intensive) or repaired.

That was my first thought, but since the same contacts control turning on and off both headlamps it's not clear how one would remain on while the other turns off:

It's worth pointing out my headlights are in ACA housings. Does that change anything?

If you are using the factory wiring it shouldn't. OTOH, if aftermarket harnesses were installed and connections were modified, who knows.

Honestly I don't know how the wiring is set up. The previous owner installed or had these headlights installed. The passenger side low beam is also very dim when viewing it from the front, to the point of almost looking like a parking light.

I think your best bet at this point is 1) a friend who knows how to use a multimeter, and 2) a multimeter.

Spend a saturday figuring out what the voltages are at. It should be...... illuminating. (Sorry)
