Default WOT 5th gear grind

Recently installed a new McLeod rst, new oem slave and master cyl. The car is procharged making 511whp. During a wide open throttle highway pull the shift from 4th to 5th gear will either grind or just straight up lock me out. Any ideas?

did this happen before the clutch install and does it only happen on the 4-5 shift?

Only 4th to 5th. it is new since after the clutch install. Only does it at high rpm. Almost leads me to think maybe it's the master. It is a brand new gm unit. Maybe I need a tick?

Doesn't make sense being a bad master, if it only does it on 4th-5th shift. My vote is syncro went out coincidentally.

Could possibly be worn blocker rings are not shearing the trans oil properly to slow the gear down to make smooth engagement. If the blocker ring is cracked it will also grind on that shift. also could be a bent shift fork or damaged plastic guides on the fork.

My vote too, I replaced my 5th gear synchros back in the day because of this. When I took apart the trans you could see and feel the worn teeth in the shifting rings. I'm rebuilding it again actually.
