2000 C5 intermittent power steering while driving
My brother in law in Hawaii has a 2000 C5
While driving the power steering will stop working and then come back on, making the car dangerous to drive
He has been to dealer and and they had no idea what was wrong
Any help is much appreciated.

Tell him to pull the codes. That will help isolate the problem.

Just guessing, but it sounds like it could be a faulty steering wheel position sensor. IIRC, when that goes out, you will lose power steering. "magnasteer" in GM parlance.
